Peter Humenick, age 93, of Stratford, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, April 01, 2006. Born in Nesquehoning, PA to the late Peter and Anna Molina Humenick, he moved to Bridgeport when he was 18 and has resided in Stratford for the last 15 years. He was a longtime employee of Singer Manufacturing Co and later worked at Sikorsky Aircraft and for the City of Bridgeport. Upon retirement Pete had worked as a driver for the Adzima Funeral Home until the age of 80. He then enjoyed his days with a fishing pole or in his woodshop making many crafts for his family, friends and St. John's Christmas Fair. He was loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Genevieve Nerkowski Kernicky Humenick. Survivors in addition to his wife are his devoted daughters Eleanor Adzima and her husband Richard of Stratford and Bernadette Ganio and her husband Peter of Danbury; his grandchildren Matthew and Mary Ellen Adzima, Peter and Shannon Adzima, Christina Adzima all of Stratford and Peter Ganio of West Palm Beach, FL; his 7 cherished great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Thomas, Kathryn, Alexander, Elizabeth, Joseph and Daniel Adzima; a sister Anna Spack of Nesquehoning, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters; Mary Dolyak and Katherine Maruschak. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 9:00 am in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10:00 am with a Requiem Funeral Service in St. John the Baptist Russian-Orthodox Church on Mill Hill Ave, Bridgeport with the V. Rev. David Cochran officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Panachida will be at 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the sound system fund of St. John's Church or St. John's Sr R Club Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
