Peter Francis Cleary, age 81, of Milford passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Gardner Heights HCC of Shelton, with his beloved wife and 3 loving daughters by his side. Born in Bridgeport to the late Frank and Helen (Astram) Cleary he has been a life long area resident. Peter was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. After being discharged from the Army as a Master Sergeant, he worked as an inspector at AVCO-Lycoming until his retirement. He was a member of the Local 1010 U.A.W. where he was the Financial Secretary for many years and the Raymond T. Goldbach VFW post 9460 in Stratford. He was an avid sportsman who was honored with many awards for his talent. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Bezverchy Cleary; 3 devoted daughters, Lianne Rasmussen and her husband Richard of Ansonia, Patricia Finnell and her companion Anthony Micco of West Haven, Frances Cottiero and her husband George of Northford; 6 cherished grandchildren, Lauren Ursillo, Crystal Sinnott, Amanda, Anthony, Andrew and Alec Cottiero; 3 great-grandsons, Benjamin and Maximus Ursillo and Colton Sinnott; a brother Robert Cleary and his wife Margaret of LaPlata, MD; 2 nieces, Diane Imbimbo and Debbie Gomperts. The family would like to extend great gratitude to the staff of the Cedar Unit at Gardner Heights HCC. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 10:30AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford with the Rev Thomas Lynch of St. James Church officiating. Internment with Full Military Honors will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7PM.
