Peter Cipkala, age 82, of Stratford, beloved husband of Mary Jean Maksimowicz Cipkala, passed away on April 24, 2018 in his home. Peter was born in Torysky, Czechoslovakia on January 1, 1936 to the late Michal and Maria (Klotz) Cipkala and has been a long time area resident. He was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft, where he was employed as a Tool and Die Maker for many years. Peter was a recreational coin collector, and enjoyed talking with "everyone" he met; but most of all, loved spending time with his family, especially his adored grandchildren. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 45 years, include his devoted daughters, Marie Damke and her husband Erich of Seymour, Debra Marini and her husband Marco of Sandy Hook, and Michelle Foley and her husband David of New Hampshire, 10 cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Abigail, Jacob, Joshua, Matthew, Natalya, Luca, Maximus, Victoria, and Zachary, his brothers, Jan and Mikulas both of Slovakia, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Michal and George.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 30 ^th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho- Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may visit with his family on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Panachida will be at 3 p.m.
