Peter J. Baldyga Sr., age 90, of Stratford, beloved husband of Theresa Mitola Baldyga, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Peter, a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving in Okinowa, Japan was born in Bridgeport to the late Peter and Mary (Gniadek) Baldyga and has been a life long area resident. He was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport, and retired from Burger and Burger Insurance Company of Stratford, as Treasurer. Peter was a member of American Legion Post # 143-Fairfield, VFW Post 9460-Stratford, and the Bridgeport Men's Gardening Club. He was also a long time parishioner and former usher at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Bridgeport. Peter was an avid bowler and gardener, and enjoyed cheering on the Yankees and U-Conn Women's Basketball. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, include his devoted children, Peter J. (Doreen) Baldyga Jr., Ken (Janet) Baldyga, all of Shelton, Audrey (Carmen) Sciuto, of Stratford and Suzanne (Allan) Belade, of Shelton, 12 cherished grandchildren, Laina (Kelly) Mills, Jared Baldyga (Fiancé Ania Jesionka), Jennifer (Tomasso) Falduto, Colleen Corris, Kristen (Ken) Higgins, Kellie (Ryan) Kerwin, Kimberly Baldyga (Fiancé Matt Nuzie), Michael Sciuto, Brian (Aztin) Sciuto, Robert Sciuto, Jacquelyn Belade, and Allan Belade Jr., 2 great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Lucas, 5 brothers, Stanislaw (Louise) Baldyga, Raymond Baldyga, Vincent (Joan ) Baldyga, Theodore (Carol) Baldyga, Daniel Baldyga, 4 sisters, Veronica (Jim) Zadrovicz, Patricia (Ron) Kadar, Regina Chencharick, Rita Baldyga, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by a brother Thomas Baldyga, and a sister, Irene Burns. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 30th at 10 a.m. meeting directly at St. Mark Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford. Entombment with full military honors will be at St. Monica's Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
