Pedro Nicanor Amezquita, age 89, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Carlina Martinez Amezquita, passed away on March 26, 2021.
Pedro was born in Moquegua, Peru on March 12, 1932, served in the Peruvian Navy, and came to the United Stated on December 13, 1952. He married his true love on June 5, 1954.
He attended night school after work to learn English and studied carpentry in the LaSalle Home School. Pedro also added to his Peruvian citizenship by becoming a U.S. citizen in 1968. On June 30, 1968, he moved his family to Bridgeport and worked as a carpenter for Jack Goldring, and Daly Construction until he established his own business known as Amezquita Carpentry.
Pedro is pre-deceased by his parents, Valentin and Ursula Amezquita-Vargas, his brothers, Manuel, Melchor, Christina, Gabriel, and Fernando.
He has one surviving brother, Romolo A. Amezquita from Texas. Survivors in addition to his beautiful wife of 66 years, include his children, Pedro Martin Amezquita of Farmington, Naomi L. Amezquita of Bridgeport, Valerie V. Amezquita Pitts and her husband Cyrus of Virginia, 3 cherished grandchildren, Vanessa and Alexander, and Eli Pitts along with a great number of loving nieces, nephews, and Godchildren from Connecticut, Peru, New York, Virginia, Texas, and California.
Visitation on on Tuesday, April 6th from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, 481 Brewster Street, Bridgeport. Entombment will be in Mount St. Peter's Cemetery, Derby. Everyone in attendance must follow the current COVID-19 guidelines, wear a mask and practice social distancing.
