Pauline Finkenbinder Gayda RN, age 90 of Stratford the widow of Michael P. Gayda passed away on Monday January 3, 2011 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Gayda, a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force Nursing Corp, was born on November 4, 1920 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to the late John and Elsie (Ditlow) Finkenbinder and has been a long time area resident. She was a graduate of York Hospital School of Nursing, and was a member of their Alumnae Association, and the Baldwin Center, and was an avid New York Yankee fan. Pauline retired in 1991after thirty years as an RN for Dr. John H. Grossman OB/GYN Specialist. Survivors include her devoted daughter Elsie Maceyunas and her husband Ed of Stratford, 2 cherished grandchildren Edward Michael Maceyunas and Susan Gouveia and her husband Bert, 2 great-grandchildren Michael and Alyssa, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by 2 sisters Louise Dubbs and Betty Thomas. Pauline's family would like to thank the staff of the Jewish Home and the 7th Floor ICU at Bridgeport Hospital for their kind and loving care. Funeral services will take place on Thursday January 6th at 10:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford with Msgr William Schultz officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Lakeview Cemetery Bridgeport. Friends may call on Wednesday (Today) from 4- 7 p.m.
