Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Ellen Piroh, age 81, of Milford, passed away suddenly on January 3, 2023, in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by family. Patricia was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 12, 1941, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Svihra) Piroh and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of SS. Cyril & Methodius Commercial High School and then entered the community of the Sisters of SS. Cyril & Methodius in 1958 with two other friends from Bridgeport.  She received her BS ED degree and MS in Religious Education from Marywood College in Scranton, PA.  She served as a teacher and formation director during her 30 years as a religious sister.  After her 30 years as a religious sister, she moved back to CT from PA and became the office manager for many years at both the former West Wynde and Soundview Skilled nursing facilities in West Haven, CT, as well as Maplewood at Strawberry Hill in Norwalk, CT.  In March 2013, she began working as a part time evening secretary at St. Mary parish in Milford, CT where she was a valued and faithful member of the staff and church right up until the time of her death. At the age of 81, Pat sometimes struggled with the idea of finally retiring due to some health issues but all the connections she made at the parish made this choice an impossible one.

Pat enjoyed traveling and took many trips throughout her lifetime to destinations such as Italy, France and Spain.  She also loved spending time at the beach either with family and friends or for times of reflection by herself.  Her love of the beach is also seen in one of her paintings that she did many years ago. Pat also had a way with words and it was guaranteed that every card you received from her, you could always expect an eloquently written paragraph in her exquisite penmanship filled with words of encouragement, faith and blessings.  Her sentiments could easily be mistaken for excerpts from a book.

One of Pat's greatest loves was her love for all kinds of animals, especially all the pets and strays she cared for throughout the years, and there were many.  She will be dearly missed by her faithful dog, Benny, who was always by her side, even at the end.  Pat was often referred to as the "Dog Whisperer" as she not only would sing Benny to sleep with her rendition of "Benny Boy" but she also knew exactly how to calm her great niece's puppy, Luna, down when Pat came to visit her sister Carol every Sunday.  Pat also dearly loved Father Aidan Donahue's Bassett Hound, Bruce, who she would always lavish with attention and biscuits.

Pat's love and care transcended animals and of course, also extended to people. Her strong faith, which was the core of her being, enabled her to comfort and guide us through the most difficult times. She was a pillar not only in her family and church community but with her forever friends as well.  And even though, throughout the years, she comforted and aided family members during their last days of their earthly journey, she was never really able to recover from the loss of her dear sister, RoseMarie, who met the Lord last year.  So, even though Pat will be immensely missed by those she left behind, we can find solace in knowing that she is now reunited with RoseMarie, her other sisters, Susan and Barbara, as well as all those loved ones who have departed before her.

Survivors include her devoted sister, Carol Sequin of Seymour, several cherished nieces and nephews, as well as several great nieces and nephews who simply adored her, as well as many lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was pre-deceased by her beloved sisters, Rosemarie Abric, Susan Mino, and Barbara Piroh. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 11 th from 4-7 p.m. at the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
