Nora M. (Chagnon) Tenk, age 66, of Stratford, beloved wife of 46 years to Kalman Tenk Jr. died peacefully Wednesday, February 17, 2010 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Nora was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Charles and Marie Chagnon. Nora was known to many as "Nanny Nora". She had many passions in life consisting of sewing, quilting and watching her NASCAR races but most importantly was her un-denying love for her friends, family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Left to treasure her memory include: her husband Kal, her three brothers and their spouses: Charles and Diane Chagnon, Paul and Shiela Chagnon, John and Anne Chagnon, her sister Margaret and husband Tom Charney, sister-in-laws Karen Penney and husband Earl and Kathy Tenk, her three cherished children: Richard Tenk, Gary Tenk and wife Kimberly Leko and Cheryl Chittem and husband Jeffrey, her grandchildren: Nicole, Kristin and Rachuel Tenk, Kallie Summer Tenk and Jake and Mckenzy Chittem, her great grandchildren: Mya Raslavsky and Damon Weller, several nieces and nephews and her lifelong best friend Jeanie Cormier. Nora was predeceased by her brother-in-law Kenneth Tenk. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, February 20, 2009 at 9:00 am. in St. James Church 2070 Main Street Stratford. Interment will be private. At the family's request calling hours have been omitted.
