Obituary

Nina (Laput) Andrenyak, 87, a lifelong resident of Stratford, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, peacefully at home with her loving family by her side, including her husband Michael of 62 years. Born in Bridgeport and youngest daughter of the late Isidore and Sophie Laput who had immigrated to the U.S. from Russia. Nina grew up both spoiled and protected by her four older brothers. At a young age, she had an appreciation of fashion and clothes that remained with her. Nina graduated from Stratford High School. She was employed for 22 years at Barnum Savings and Loan, which became Peoples United Bank. Nina was a lifelong devout member of Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church in Bridgeport. In her youth, she attended Russian school, sang in the church choir and was a member of the "R" club. During her retirement she volunteered at food workshops and other church activities. Her most dearest and lifelong friends were from the church. Nina's faithful service to church extended to other local orthodox churches including and especially at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church (Silver Lane) in Stratford. Nina enjoyed traveling with her husband in their retirement, especially to Cape Cod and she was an avid UCONN husky   basketball fan.   She was a true beacon to her family and friends. Family was very important to her as well as service to others. Her positive and kind spirit, faith and love of God always shined brightly and with every adversary. Nina was a dedicated and proud mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband Michael and children, David Andrenyak, Ph.D. of Salt Lake City, UT, Gail (Thomas) Denisky of Rocky Hill, and Susan (Frank) Bilek of Hebron, and her four grandchildren, Allison and Larissa of Rocky Hill and Hendrik and Michail of Hebron. Nina was predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Alexander and Stephen and is survived by her brother, John in Los Angeles and several nieces and nephews. Nina and her family thank the staffs at Bridgeport Hospital, Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Stratford Visiting Nurse Association, and Drs. Ralabate, Persico, Link, Weisz, Patel and Marshalko (late). Special thanks to Carol, who was more than just a caregiver to mom, and the other care professionals at Griswold Home Care; and to Alise for the rides to mom's appointments.
