Obituary

Nicholas Andrew Pyrch Sr, age 98, a long time resident of Milford died peacefully on January 6, 2016 at the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT. Nicholas was born November 1917 in Bridgeport. He married Lucille May Sloan September 1948 in Bridgeport, CT with whom they had ten children. He graduated Harding High School, Class of 1935 and, served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. Nick worked at Bridgeport Wholesale Confectionary, Carpenter Steel, Platt's Clover Dairy, was a Butcher at Stop and Save Market in Milford then New England Security Services. Nick was a member of the American Legion Post 0196. He played amateur baseball for the Bridgeport Rosebuds and has been a lifetime baseball fan. He is survived by nine of his ten children, Debra Pyrch-Brockman, Thomas Pyrch, James Pyrch, William Pyrch, Edward Pyrch, Angeanetta Murray, Patrick Pyrch, Margaret Pyrch-Bowlan, and Maureen Pyrch; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his younger brother John Pyrch. Nick is predeceased by his wife Lucille May Sloan-Pyrch and son Nicholas Pyrch Jr, his parents Andrew Nicholas Pyrch and Anna Pupchik-Pyrch, brothers, Steven and William, and sister Josephine Craw. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 15th at 11am, in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green, Stratford, CT, with Very Rev. David Cochran officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet his family from 10 –11 a.m.
