Mildred A. Swidar, age 89, of Stratford, the beloved wife of the late Alexander Swidar, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 4th, 2008 in the Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Bridgeport on October 28, 1919 and a lifelong area resident, Mrs. Swidar was a homemaker who worked briefly for the General Electric Company in Bridgeport during WW II before being stopped by a serious illness. Among her hobbies, Mildred enjoyed decorating, needlepoint, reading and especially playing the piano. She was also very fond of animals, nature and watching her favorite sports teams. Survivors include a loving son Alex and his wife Janice of Seymour; a sister Catherine Salamon of Bridgeport, brothers Michael and his wife Muriel of Stratford, Joseph and his wife Jean of Easton and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Swarz and three brothers, Edward, James and Robert. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the 3rd floor nurses, especially Liz, Lucy and Pat, and those CNA's and staff at Lord Chamberlain who provided loving care and compassion to Mildred over the last two years. Friends are invited to attend the funeral services to be held on Monday, September 8th at 1 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, with viewing starting at 12:00 noon until time of the services. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
