Mildred Justine Oesau, age 99 of Shelton, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was born in Bridgeport on Monday, August 16, 1909 to the late Carl and Lydia (Hammerstrom) Nelson and was a Stratford resident for 71 years. Mildred was a graduate of the Stratford High School class of 1927 and the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing class of 1930 as a registered nurse and practiced private duty nursing for 44 years in the area. She was widowed in 1976 by her husband Clarence Joseph Oesau and moved to Pownal, VT in 1980. She was a member of the Swinging Seniors in Pownal and the Bridgeport Hospital Alumni Association. Survivors include her son and daughter–in-law Robert and Louise Oesau of Stratford; 2 sisters: Margaret Caron of Shelton and Nancy C. Martin of Indianapolis, IN; 4 grandchildren: Erica Maglioshetti and her husband Michael, Tracey Oesau, Nancy Smith and her husband Gary all of Stratford and Robert Oesau of Seymour; 8 great-grandchildren: Elija, Anthony and Elena Maglioshetti, Gary, Stephanie, Amy and Steven Smith and Mason Bodine; a great great-grandson John Tyler; several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son Carl Oesau; 4 brothers: Oscar, Carl, Andrew and Arthur and a sister Elvira. Funeral services are private.
