Murray - Mildred Murray, born July 15th, 1923 passed on Monday evening. Her kind and loving nature touched friends and family, as well as her extremely funny quips that would leave the whole room laughing. Millie, as she was known by many, enjoyed a long and happy marriage to Roland Murray, who passed on last August. They made a terrific team! While Roy was out in the shed or fishing, Millie would be inside enjoying her toast and tea over a good romance novel or a crossword puzzle. She worked on many beautiful jigsaw puzzles as well. One of her favorite past-times was baking, and our family favorites include apple pie and some of her Yorkshire Pudding! As a matter of fact you would see Millie and her sister Marion in the kitchen on Thanksgiving and Christmas cutting the turkey, preparing salads, laughing and enjoying themselves, arranging a great holiday for the family. Her two children, Robert Murray and Mariann Hudak recall all the nurturing that they received from their Mom as they grew up. Mariann remembers her Mom's support in art and the countless trips they took to buy supplies. Bob recalls his Mom, always happy to take care of everybody, as friends certainly felt welcome in her home. Her two grandchildren Lori Hudak (passed on in November 2001) and Kelly Hudak remember raiding grandma's closet for dress up, building forts in her living room and eating some of the largest Banana Splits in North Carolina, her home with her husband for over five years as well as where her brother Frank resided who passed away several years ago. The family would like to thank the staff of Lord Chamberlain Nursing Facility, which later became her home with Roland for almost three years. Also a special thank you to the many individuals who tended to her needs and especially Lucy, Pat and her hospice nurse Chris who all knew her closely, sharing a great deal of time with her, seeing her through the good times and the difficult ones, during her life experience. As family and friends come together to celebrate Mildred Murray's life we commemorate her giving spirit and willingness to create happiness and joy for all who surrounded her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday 9:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Peace Church in Lordship for a Mass of Christian Burial with Reverend Brian Gray officiating. Interment will be private. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 –7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Peace Sanctuary Fund.
