Michal Baca (Batcha), age 94 of Bridgeport, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital. He was born in the former Czechoslovakia on October 5, 1923 to the late George and Mary (Blicha) Batcha. Michal was an electrician at the Carolina Elektrarna in Czechoslovakia until moving to the United States in 1978. He was retired from Bridgeport Hospital where he worked for many years. Prior to his employment at Bridgeport Hospital, he worked at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stratford. Michal was an avid gardener. Friends and family will remember his expansive vegetable garden, of which he was very proud. Michal is survived by his sisters, Mary Goncar of Glastonbury and Joan Kopernik and her husband Nicholas of Redding, a nephew, Stephen Kopernik of Redding, a niece, Donna Mard of Placentia, CA and several nieces and nephews in Slovakia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Anna Pichonska of Slovakia. Funeral services will take place on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church 1950 Barnum Ave, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southwestern CT Agency on Aging (SWCAA), Friends of the Agency, 1000 Lafayette Blvd. Bridgeport, CT 06604.
