Michael Zinn, age 95, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Jane Drew Zinn, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital.
Mr. Zinn, a retired driver for Burritt Lumber Company, was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Jack and Bessie (Fedina) Zinn, and moved to the Zinn Family Farm in Danbury at the age of 2, and remained a life long farmer and gardener.
He was a WW II Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 3rd Battalion 84th Division, of the 343rd Infantry, on the front line during the Battle of the Bulge, where he received a Bronze Star.
Survivors include his sisters, Mildred Hwozdek of Pennsylvania, Irene Scosta of Newtown, and Polly Dwinells of Bethel, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was pre-deceased by a sister Sophie Brady, and a brother Joseph Zinn.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 8th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and 10 a.m., in St. Mark Church, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment with full military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.
