Obituary

Michael A. Voytek Jr, age 78, of Milford, the beloved husband of 25 years to Mary Ellen (Kelley) Voytek, passed away in his home on Thursday, August 16, 2018.   Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Maslar) Voytek. He was known as Michael A. in St. John's Nepomucene Grammar School, and was very proud of his Slovak Heritage. He graduated from Fairfield Prep class of '57. He was a loving father to his 3 children: Dr. Terry (Donna) Voytek, Major Thomas (Geri) Voytek, Tina (Robert) Girandola. He was also a loving stepfather to the Kelley boys: Joseph (Gi), Pat (Tricia), Jim (Kathryn), Tim (Cheryl), and Sean (Melissa). He enjoyed and loved his 16 grandchildren and wished they lived closer: Eric, Cindy, Melissa, Christopher, Nick, Emma, Harry, Meg, Patrick, Jack, Shannon, Erin, Meghan, Katie, Jake and Liam. In addition, he is survived by his brother William (Linda) Voytek, his former wife, Janet (Patterson) Wiltsie and several nephews. During his youth and early adult life, he played softball, pitching for many local teams. His pride was representing Carpenter Steel in 4 sports, softball, basketball, bowling and being captain of the golf team. He duckpin bowled for Slossar's Service Station, Photo Sales, and Greenwood Insurance. He also loved antiquing and was nationally known as an Antique Bottle Collector and founder of the Southern CT Antique Bottle Collector's Association. He was a lecturer on antiques and many subjects. He belonged to the Milford Senior Center and sang with their chorus. He was an accomplished oil painter, winning a first place award while selling several works. He taught Oil Painting at the Milford Senior Center as well as Milford Adult Ed. His love was dancing with his wife at local and polka weekends in the Catskills and Pocono's. He was part of the DJ Group "The Stashu Pendowski 4". Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11:00 a.m.at Christ the Redeemer Church, Milford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 pm.
