Michael Balis Sr. age 87 of Shelton passed away on Wednesday July 12, 2006 in Birmingham H.C. C. Derby. Mr. Balis, a WW # II Veteran of the U.S. Navy was born in Bridgeport to the late Alexander and Melania Balas and has been a long time Shelton resident and had lived in Boca Raton, Florida for 8 years. He was a retired inspector for Dresser Industries and was also employed as an admitting clerk in the emergency room at Bridgeport Hospital. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Canonical Russian Orthodox Church Stratford and was the widower of Julia Barocsi Balis. Survivors include his beloved children Michael Balis Jr. and his wife Patricia of Stratford, Milane Balis of NC, Judith Balis of Fairfield, Alexander Balis and his wife Patricia of Huntington and Joseph Balis and his wife Maria of Northford.7 grandchildren 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday July 18th at 10:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford with the Rev. Michael Macura officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
