Michael Saltis, age 89 of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Margaret Filicko Saltis, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in Bridgeport Hospital. Michael, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII was born in Poultney, Vermont to the late John and Susie (Kopchick) Saltis, and moved to Connecticut in his late twenties. He was a retired Driver for Hannan Lumber Company. Mike was an avid fan of the NY METS, and enjoyed working around his home. Survivors include his beloved children, Karen Saltis (David Myer) of Milford and Michael Saltis (Shelley) of Trumbull, 3 cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail and Connor, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was pre-deceased by his brothers, Peter, Alex, George, and John, and sisters, Katie Strogie, Helen Bobko, Mary Towler, and Anna Kelleman. . Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 16th, 2015 at 8:15AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 9AM in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist 364 Mill Hill Ave, Bridgeport. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may greet his family on Friday from 4-7PM. Panachida will be at 4:30PM. The family request in lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Michael's memory to St. John's Church.
