Michael Piatak, age 82 of Stratford, passed away on Wednesday August 15, 2007 in his home. Mr. Piatak, a WW#II Veteran of the U.S. Navy was born in Granville, New York to the late John and Mary Homa Piatak and had been a life long Bridgeport and Lordship resident. He was retired from Sikorsky after thirty-three years of service and was a life long member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, where he was a member of the Choir and the Father's and Son's Club. Mike was also a member of the Lordship Father's Club, Boy Scouts of America, a former Little League Coach and a volunteer for the Cerebral Palsy Center, St. Vincent's Special Needs and the Kennedy Center. He was the widower of Mariana Tarasovich Piatak. Survivors include his beloved children Michael and Diane Walsh Piatak, John and Colleen Piatak, Mary and Richard Watt all of Stratford, his cherished grandchildren Jennifer Watt Williamson, Elizabeth Watt Cardwell, Michael Piatak, Meghan Piatak, Emily Piatak, Matthew Piatak and Kyle Piatak, his siblings John Pyatak, Joseph Piatak and Mary Kendall all of Stratford, Margaret Piatak of Trumbull, Agnes Hart of Fairfield and Irene Mulligan of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was pre-deceased by his beloved daughter Susan, a brother George Pyatak and a sister Anna Battagliotti. Funeral services will take place on Monday August 20th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford.
