Michael J. Makara, age 88 of Stratford passed away on Monday July 10, 2006 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Makara, a WW # II Veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a PFC in the Anti Tank Squad was born in Stratford to the late John and Helen Makara and has been a lifelong Stratford resident. He was a retired tool and die maker for Remington Arms and formerly worked at Alcoa and was a member of V.F.W. Post 9460. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years Maria (Mary) Savo Makara, 2 devoted sons John Makara of Devon and Michael Makara and his wife Joan of Southport, 3 cherished granddaughters Jaimie Mc Carvill and her husband Michael of Milford, and Jessie and Katie Makara of Southport, 2 great-grandchildren Michael and Alaina, a sister Agnes Bekech of Georgia, a sister-in-law Kay Makara of Huntington a brother-in-law Frank Savo and his wife Judy of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a daughter Madeline. Funeral services will take place on Thursday July 13th at 8:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 9 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
