Michael Dirgo, age 84, of Stratford passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in his home. Born in Bridgeport to the late George and Elizabeth (Kravec) Dirgo, he has been a lifelong area resident. Michael was retired from Remington-Dupont in Bridgeport were he worked in the shipping department. He was a former officer; usher and recording secretary of St. John's Church in Bridgeport and a member of the J.K.W. Society were he held many offices, which included financial secretary for 12 years and recording secretary for 18 years. Mike was predeceased by his beloved wife Anna Vojtek Dirgo, his son Michael Dirgo, a bother George Dirgo and a sister Anna Pruznak. Survivors include his devoted daughter MaryAnn Carlson and her husband Russ of Salem, SC, his cherished grandsons David Carlson and Robert Carlson and his wife Jackie, a sister-in-law Margaret Slama, a niece Jennifer Slama and a nephew Justin Slama. 4 nephews also survive him in Europe. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 11:00 am in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, 364 Mill Hill Ave, Bridgeport with the V. Rev. Peter Paproski officiating the Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 3 - 6 pm. Panachida will be at 4:30 pm.
