Obituary

Michael P. Damato, age 89, of Stratford, beloved husband of Dorothy Vayser Damato, passed away on January 10, 2022, in his home.

Michael was born in Bridgeport on January 18, 1932, to the late Michael and Anne (Patrick) Damato and had been a lifelong area resident.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in Austria. Michael retired after 38 years from Jacob Brothers and was an avid NY Giants football fan. He was a member of the Stratford Baldwin Center, and loved going on their bus trips, enjoyed cruises and going to the beach all summer.

Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 68 years, include his son, Michael Damato and his wife Eugenia of Florida, daughter, Cynthia Damato and her significant other, Richard Hurley of Stratford, 5 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Amy Craw. In addition to his parents, Michael was pre-deceased by his sister, Sue Miller of Fairfield.

Visitation on Thursday, January 13 th from 9-10 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church Stratford. Interment with full military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Masks are required for all services.
