Mary Lou Mastroni Hanish, 81, of Naugatuck entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 14, 2012 in VITAS Innovative Hospice Care at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was surrounded by her loving children and her nieces. Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband Charles Hanish. Born in Bridgeport CT, she was the eldest daughter of the late Esther (Ferrusi) and Dominic Mastroni. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Bridgeport and later Trumbull and a former member of their Women's Auxiliary. Surviving are her two sons, Charles M. and Michael A.; and her daughter Judi, wife of Russell Dempsey; three grandsons Jacob, Andrew, and Joseph Dempsey, all of Naugatuck, two sisters, Carmelita A., wife of Daniel Kelley of Summerfield, FL; Judith K, wife of Gary Plourde of Spring Township, PA; and her brother, Anthony D. Mastroni, husband of Delores of Milford; Mary Lou is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well. Mary Lou's family would like to thank the caring staff from VITAS Innovative Hospice Care at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury, the Medical and Nursing Staff from Waterbury Hospital, and the nursing and physical therapy staff at Glendale Center in Naugatuck, CT. Funeral services will take place on Friday May 18th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Nichols for a Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe.
