Mary Kraynak Nichols, age 93, of Shelton, formerly of Sandy Hook, beloved wife of the late Robert Nichols, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in Bishop Wicke Health Center, Shelton. Mary was born on December 3, 1923 in Bridgeport to the late George and Julia (Kerpchar) Kraynak and has been a long time area resident. She was retired from Newtown Savings Bank, and prior to that had worked for Connecticut National Bank. Mary was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Stratford. Survivors include her devoted son, Garry Nichols and his wife Barbara of NJ, 5 cherished grandchildren, Garry Nichols Jr., Seth Nichols and his wife Cara, Michele Nichols, Katie Wechter, and Amy Birch, 10 great-grandchildren, Victoria, Veronica, Sydnie, Samuel, McKenna, Maxton, Christian, Clayton, Samantha, and Alexandra, a sister, Juliann Porter of Stratford, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to beloved husband and parents, Mary was pre-deceased by her daughter, Julie Wechter, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday February 21 ^st at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church Stratford for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Monroe. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida at 6:45 p.m.
