Mary Simko Kranak, age 95 of Stratford, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 14, 2008 in the Carolton Chronic Convalescent Home in Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, Mary led an active life in her community. She was a member of St John the Baptist Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church where she spent many hours cooking for the holiday fairs and bake sales, she was a member of the Mothers and Daughters Club, the seniors, and sang in the church choir for many years. She worked at Columbia Records and D.M. Reads. Mary always enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling, playing cards and gardening. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, John, her son Jack, a brother John Simko and sister Anne Skirkanich. Survivors include her devoted daughter Evelyn Wallace of Fairfield; her grandchildren Rob Wallace and his partner Lindsay Alston of Trumbull, Howard Wallace of Stratford, Lew Wallace and his wife Karen of Stratford, Kyle Fournier and her husband Dave of Fairfield, Karen Waxman and her husband Roger of Townsend, MA, Patricia Murray and her husband Sean of Acton, MA; her great grandchildren, Courtney and her husband Andrew Stefanowicz , David Fournier, Kelly, Allison and Haley Wallace, Alexandra Waxman, Lauren and Carly Roderick and several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment will be private in St John's Cemetery Stratford. In lieu of flowers the family request those desiring make donations in Mary's memory to the St. John's Sr "R" Club Scholarship Fund or the church Restoration Fund.
