Mary Chisarik Hovan Age 100, born in Bridgeport, Connecticut the eldest of five daughters of the late John and Meri Chisarik, and formally a long time resident of Stratford, died peacefully on September 25, 2012 in Gainesville, Virginia. Mary was predeceased by her parents John and Meri Chisarik, her husband George and her beloved daughter Jeanne Hovan Christensen, son-in-law Henry II, grandson, Henry III (Butchie) Christensen, granddaughter, Tracy Hovan, and great granddaughter Jessica Zohab, her beloved sisters Ann Brannigan husband George and Marge Chisarik Cholewinski, husband Frank, brother–in-laws Michael Dalton, Michael Hovan and his wife Helen, Steve Hovan, Frank Hovan, sister-in-laws Mae Dirgo husband George and Ann Moscovics husband Joseph and nephews Bobby, Kenneth JR, Kenneth SR. Moscovics and Raymond Chisarik. She leaves behind her loving sisters Lee Cavaliere and her husband Joe of Bridgeport, Agnes Dalton of Stratford, Sister-In-Law Jeanne Hovan of Southbury, all in Connecticut, her sons, George and his wife Betty of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Gerald and his wife Pat of Haymarket, Virginia, Seven grandchildren, Susan New and her husband Russell of Talking Rock, Georgia, Laura Weimorts and her husband Dennis of Senoia, Georgia, Dave Christensen and his wife Tamara of Harwinton, Connecticut, Lois Auriemme and her husband Dan of Stratford, Connecticut, Debbie Watson of Henrico, Virginia, Mary Keegan and her husband Brian of Gainesville, Virginia, Judith Zohab and her husband Patrick of Sandy Hook, Virginia, twenty great-grandchildren Stephen, Cherrie, Matthew, Adam, Rachel, Erin, Megan, Joshua, Katie, Abbie, Dylan, Aidan, Kelly, Kendra, Jade, Breanna, Tiffany, Todd, Deanna, and Rochelle and one great-grandchild, Trez. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families. She was a member of St. Marks Church, St. Marks Guild, St. James Seniors, and a member of the Baldwin Center all of Stratford, Connecticut. She was active in the Knitting and Crocheting Group at the Baldwin Center, making afghans for terminally ill children and the Mitten Tree that donated hats, gloves and mittens to the South End Community Center and Bethlehem House. She was also a member of St. Mary's Senior Group in Fairfax, Virginia. Mary was employed at Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford and Lacey Manufacturing Company, Bridgeport. All of her family, extended family and many wonderful friends will miss her, especially her sweet smile. We are thankful that God shared her with us for so many years. We thank all the staff and Doctors at Gainesville Health and Rehab in Virginia for the loving care they gave to Mary. A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor on Friday October 26th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Wigwam Lane, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Mary Hovan to St. Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, CT 06614 or the Baldwin Center, 1000 West Broad Street, Stratford, CT 06615 The Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
