Mary F Gorelick of Trumbull, CT, passed away at the Jewish Home in Fairfield, CT on Tuesday, March 15. Mary was born on August 31, 1924 in Bridgeport, CT. She graduated from Harding HS in 1942. She was employed by General Electric Co., for over 42 years, retiring as a Technical Specialist and head of the Small Appliance Inspection Department. She attended the University of Bridgeport where she later taught Russian language classes. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Michael Gorelick, her sister, Ann McCluskey and brother, Bill Hold. She is survived by her brother, and sister-in-law, John & Aud-Helen Hlivyak of Spring Hill, Florida; their daughters, Linda Bowka, Laura Willett, Dawn Denvir and her husbands sons, Glen and Dennis Gorelick and their daughters, Elizabeth, Margaret and Kira Gorelick. Mary was deeply involved with her church, St. John the Baptist of Bridgeport where she was a member of the choir and also served on the Church Board of Directors. She was an officer of both the Mothers Club and the Seniors Club. Mary was an expert seamstress who sewed and donated altar linens and vestments for the clergy and altar boys. In her youth she was active in sports, particularly basketball, gymnastics and high-jumping. She was a generous supporter of many worthy causes. Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 18th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Mary's memory to John's Church Restoration Fund.
