Mary Golias, age 82, of Stratford, wife of 50 years, to John Golias, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a brief illness on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Born on March 25, 1942, in Petrovce, Czechoslovakia, to the late Juraj and Maria (Kucmasova) Popovich. She was a longtime resident of Stratford. Prior to becoming a full-time mother, Mary worked as an electrical assembler at Bunting Steri Systems in Bridgeport. She was a devout Catholic parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus in Stratford. Mary was proud of her Slovak roots and was the keeper of all family traditions which she vehemently instilled in her daughters ensuring her legacy. Her hobbies included cooking for her family and gardening, but her true passion was spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to her husband John, include her two devoted daughters, Katherine Golias and her husband Dennis Tracy of Stratford and Diane Golias and her husband Richard Cordeiro of Guilford, three cherished grandchildren, Ava and Ashlyn Tracy and Colin Cordeiro. Mary was also predeceased by her brother, Michael Popovich.

Friends may greet the family on Monday, November 25th from 4-7pm in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 26th at 10 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stratford. Interment will be held at St. Johns Cemetery in Stratford.
