Obituary

Mary Oleshkevich Drabb, born in Bridgeport, CT June 24, 1921 to Stephen and Vera Plitnick Oleshkevich, wife of the late Nicholas A. Drabb, died January 31, 2012. After spending her youth in the south end of Bridgeport, Mary moved to Stratford with Nick, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Mary was retired from Valve Corporation of America (VCA). Always kind, thoughtful, loving, and generous to all, she continued to be concerned for others even in her last days. Mary loved to joke, laugh, and sing. She was happiest making others laugh, enjoying a beautiful bouquet of flowers, or watching birds from her window. Survivors include her loving and devoted daughters and their spouses, Sandra and William Masikiewicz, Irene Forizs, and Marianne and Kenneth Hendren, all of Stratford. She also leaves seven grandchildren and their spouses, William and Vanessa Masik, Melissa and William Ezarik, Michael and Colleen Forizs, Shaun Forizs, Nolan and Angie Hendren, Lauren Hendren, and Meredith Hendren, as well as her fiancé Jason Walter. She also leaves cherished great grandsons Trevor and Justin Forizs, Scott Ezarik, Travis Forizs, as well as Tyler Savinelli. Visits from her great grandsons gave her much joy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including loving and devoted nieces Janet Onze and Arlene Auer. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by son-in-law John Forizs, sisters Anna Super and Helen O'Donnell Super, and brother John ("Johnny Elk") Oleshkevich. Heartfelt thanks go to her dedicated caregiver, Naomi, as well as VITAS Hospice of Trumbull. Funeral services will take place on Saturday February 4th at 10:00 am in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist Church, 364 Mill Hill Ave; Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service officiated by the V. Rev Protopresbyter David Cochran. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford Panachida at 4:30 p.m. Those desiring may make donation's in Mary's memory to: St. John's Sr. "R" Club Scholarship Fund, St. John the Baptist Church, or VITAS, 99 Hawley Lane, Stratford, CT 06614.
