Mary Ann Damato, age 85, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Anthony Damato Sr., passed away peacefully at Shelton Lakes Nursing Home on April 13, 2026.
Mary Ann was born in Bridgeport on January 30, 1941, to the late Leonard and Anna (Wojnagi) Capuano. She was a longtime Stratford resident, also having lived in Peoria, Arizona from 2002 to 2017. She was a graduate of Stratford High School, class of 1959, and had a career as hairdresser that spanned over 55 years.
Survivors include her devoted sons, Anthony Damato Jr. and his wife Robin of West Haven, Mark Damato and his wife Michele of Shelton and Christopher Damato and his wife Tammy of Arizona, cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Payton, and Rebecca, Mark Damato Jr. and Amelia, and Derrick and Breanna Damato, adored great-granddaughter, Annalise, brothers and sisters, Michael Capuano of Stratford, Anna Scala of Stratford, Theresa Procyk and husband Andrew of Seymour, Lenore Esposito of Shelton, Nicholas Capuano and wife, Mary Kay of Sarasota, FL, Tina Williams of Sarasota, FL, Deborah Capuano of Seymour, Jeanette Flathers and husband, Christopher of Stratford, Marie Capuano, sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Mary Ann was also predeceased by her brothers, Richard, Leonard and Anthony (Butch) Capuano and sisters, Antionette Piccirillo, and Barbara Galli.
She will be remembered for all the time spent with her family, hosting Sunday Dinners and Holidays, love of gardening, and winters spent in Arizona.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Apple Rehab at Shelton Lakes, for all the wonderful care.
Visitation on Thursday, April 23rd from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home. 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford with a prayer service at 11:30 a.m.
