Marie B. Knecht, age 90, of Stratford, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center. Marie was born on January 19, 1921 in Koln Germany. She came to America with her parents, Julius and Hermine Brightenstone in 1928. She grew up in Bridgeport and Trumbull and lived in Stratford for 65 years. She retired from Bridgeport Hospital where she worked as a cashier until she was in her 70's. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren Knecht. Marie loved to cook and bake for her many friends and was well known for her wonderful Hungarian cookies and potato pancakes. She especially loved children and they always loved to be with her. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Knecht Dattolo and her husband Gary of Trumbull, two granddaughters Michele Cox and her husband James of Kissimmee, FL and Jessica Mangini and her husband James of Hamden, CT. She is also survived by her two great grandsons; Steven and Matthew Mangini. Our family wants to express our utmost thanks to the 3rd floor nursing staff at Lord Chamberlain and for the many years of wonderful care by Dr. Hulcher. Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:30 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Internment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-6 pm.
