IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie Rosalie
Inzucchi
September 4, 1931 – March 24, 2025
Marie Rosalie Inzucchi (nee Brigio), of Stratford, CT, died peacefully at home on March 24, 2025 after a long illness.
Marie was born on September 4, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, to Vito and Mary (nee Romeo) Brigio. She spent her childhood growing up in a large Italian-American family amongst many aunts, uncles and cousins. At the advent of World War II, she moved to Long Branch, NJ, with her parents and brother, Frank, where Marie's lifelong fascination with the ocean was born. After graduating from high school, she worked as an Executive Secretary to the head of the Long Branch Trust Company. In 1957, she married the love of her life, Dr. C. William Inzucchi, and moved to the Bronx, NY, where they raised their family. Upon her husband's retirement, they moved to Stratford, CT.
Marie had a boundless energy, raising five children, caring for her in-laws, cooking all meals and answering the phone for her husband's medical practice, then clerking for several firms, both in the Bronx and in Connecticut. Whether she knew you for years or if she just met you, you always had a place around Marie Inzucchi's table, as nothing made her happier than friends and family gathering together to share a meal and great conversation. Her children always knew they didn't need to ask to bring someone over for dinner because the answer would always be yes. There was always room for one more and always plenty of food.
Marie had a love of music (especially Italian opera), classic movies, good books, and spending time by the water (particularly the Stratford sea wall). Even after her retirement, she never liked to sit still for long, and enjoyed socializing at several senior centers, where she made many dear friends, learned to play Mahjong and Dominos, and took in many a great movie. She was always eager to learn or experience something new, which led to her taking classes in yoga, Spanish, Reiki and qigong, to name a few. She was loving, upbeat and generous, a cherished friend, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marie is survived by her children, Carmela London and her husband Mitchel, Silvio Inzucchi and his wife Linda, Marisa Inzucchi and Daniela Inzucchi; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Charles and Caroline; and her sister-in-law, Carol Brigio. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William, son Corrado, and brother, Frank Brigio.
The family would like to especially thank Dani, Marcel, Gene and Yvonne for their invaluable help in caring for Marie over the past two years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, 2070 Main Street, Stratford, CT, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Marie's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
