Margery Jean Blake, age 89, of Stratford passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 at St. Vincent's Hospital. Jean, beloved wife of the late Robert M. Blake, was born in Liverpool, England, grew up in London, England and came to the United States as a war bride in 1946. She was involved in many professional and community organizations throughout her life and was always an active member and leader. Most recently she served as President of the Bridgeport Art League, President of the Oronoque Garden Club and Queen of the Red Hat Society. As a long-time resident of Oronoque Village, she was active in many community groups, served on the Oronoque Village Community Association Board and was a regular columnist in the Villager. Prior to moving to Connecticut, she was a businesswoman who worked as a Media Director for an advertising agency in Miami Beach, as well as later owning two of her own retail businesses. After moving to the area Jean worked for a time as a realtor. When she retired, Jean developed an avid interest in painting. Her fine talent, using many different media, won her numerous awards and recognitions. She is survived by her children, Jean Caputo and husband Thomas of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, Susan Kremser and husband Frank, of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Bob Roberts and wife Amy, of Kernersville, North Carolina, six grandchildren, Thomas Caputo and wife Sarah, Paige Stenrud and husband Chris, Brian Caputo and wife Laura, Ashley Kremser and fiancée David Stolar, Brett Roberts and wife Heather, and Seth Roberts and four great granddaughters, Jane, Allison, Emily, and Tess Caputo and nephew Paul Buckingham and wife Michelle. Mrs. Blake's family will receive friends on Friday, June 29, at 10:30 a.m. with a short memorial service at noon at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
