Margaret H. Mezick Voccola, age 83, of Stratford, the widow of Raymond S. Voccola, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital. Marge was born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania to the late Alexander and Helen (Shashala) Mezick, and has been a long time area resident. She worked for years at Haussman's Pharmacy before raising her family. She was a long time member and active volunteer of Holy Name of Jesus Parish and School, and was a member of the Ladies Guild. Marge was a member of the Stratford Housing Authority Executive Board, and a former member of the Stratford Democratic Town Committee, and Boothe Park Commission. She was a backbone and driving force behind her husband's successful political career, which lasted over thirty years. She was a loyal friend and cherished the good friends she had, especially those she spoke with on a daily basis. Marge will be remembered for her excellent cooking which she loved sharing with family and friends. Her family was her pride and joy. Survivors include her devoted sons Alec and his wife Laurieanne, and Raymond and his wife Sarah, 5 cherished grandchildren Alec and his fiancé Alyssa Bashar, Brett, Chelsea, Chloe and Kyra, a brother Joseph W. Mezick, all of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday May 10th at 9 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
