Margaret Hanish Dempkowski, age 85, of Bridgeport, the widow of Donald Dempkowski, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Margaret, a retired employee of American Fabrics was born in Dunmore, Pennsylvania to the late Michael and Anna (Matzak) Hanish and has been a long time area resident. She was a long time member of the Altar Society at St. Ambrose Church, and enjoyed knitting crocheting, and baking. Margaret loved her dogs, especially her late dog Bijou. Survivors include her devoted son Donald of Bridgeport, sisters Madeline Bredice and her husband Raymond of Stratford, and Emma La Providenza of Trumbull, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to he beloved husband and parents, Margaret was pre-deceased by her daughter Valerie, brothers Charles, Nicholas, Michael, Frank, George and Joseph, and sisters Anna Hanish, and Helen Welehorsky. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 24th at 10 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:45 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
