Obituary

Madelyn M. Poirier, 97, known to her friends as Madge of Huntingdon, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Baptist Hospital in Tennessee.  Madelyn was a nearly life time resident of Stratford, Connecticut, living in the Lordship section of Stratford for 65 years, before moving to Tennessee with her son, James and daughter-in-law, Dawn, two years ago.

Madelyn was born October 29, 1925 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late James and Clara (Rotjer) Andrews.  She retired from Precision Arc Company as a machine welder. She enjoyed playing Cribbage, Pinochle, or Mahjong with her friends.  She also enjoyed sitting at Long Beach or the Seawall with a cup of Dunkin Coffee and a donut, to enjoy watching the waves and seagulls.  Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Louis Poirier, a son, Michael Poirier, Sr., a sister, Jane Crowley and a brother, Carl Andrews.

She is survived by her two sons, James Poirier (Dawn) of Huntingdon, Mark Poirier (Marianne) of Shelton, Connecticut, one grandson, Michael Poirier, Jr., and one great granddaughter, Madelyn Rose Poirier of Milford, Connecticut.  She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends left to honor her memories.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 26 th from 9-10:30 AM in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, with a prayer service at 10:20 AM. Interment will follow in  St. John's Cemetery Stratford.
