Luisa F. Veranes, age 90, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Luis M. Veranes, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2019 surrounded by her family. Luisa was born in Havana, Cuba on May 1, 1928 to the late Mamerto Rodriguez and Santa Pino Rodriguez and was a longtime area resident. One of eleven children, she is survived by sisters, Iluminada, Hilda and Haydee, and brothers Rene and Raul, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Survivors include her oldest son and main care provider, Luis Veranes, of Stratford, Maria Teresa Veranes Curesky and Richard Curesky of Fairfield, Nancy Mishley of Seymour, and Jorge Veranes of Middletown.  Her cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Curesky (Patrick Mahoney), Todd Curesky (Katie), Felicia Asterino, Benjamin Green (Sarah), and Elena Pepin, great-grandchildren, Matthew, Adaline, Ellie, Jasmine and Oliver. Luisa was a great cook specializing in Cuban cuisine. Her talents included sewing, embroidering and crocheting. She was a supporter of her grandchildren's sports and school events. She enjoyed gardening and family gatherings.  We are so thankful for the loving care of Adalis Figueroa, her care provider from Almost Family, the Constellation Hospice nurses and Bridgeport Hospital who helped to provide a caring environment for our mother. We will miss you! Friends may greet Luisa's family on Friday, April 5 ^th from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.  Those desiring, may make donations in memory of Luisa to the Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Southington, CT 06489.
