Louis P. Zuffa, age 72 of Milford beloved husband of forty-eight years to Barbara Sirotnak Zuffa passed away on Monday March 3, 2008 in St. Vincent's Medical Center Bridgeport, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lou was born in Bridgeport to the late Louis and Olga Zuffa. He was the loving father of Col. Marc L. Zuffa and his wife Chris and grandfather to Stephanie, who loved calling him "Poppie" all of Virginia, Paul G. Zuffa of New York and Donna Addison and her husband Scott and grandfather to Cara Susan, who loved calling him "Grampy" all of Stamford, he is also survived by 2 sisters Agnes Macisco of Shelton and Lorraine Zuffa of Stratford and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lou was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren and friends and cherished his time spent with all of them, more than anything in the world. He was a great guy who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was an active member of the Benabad Caravan organization of Alhambra where he was past commander. He was a volunteer for the Cancer Society escorting patients to hospital visits and appointments. An avid golfer he enjoyed his golf games with his friends. Lou also enjoyed his Friday mornings at the diner and his many evenings playing pinochle. He found special pleasure after his retirement going to Florida with his wife visiting and spending time with friends. Lou graduated from Fairfield Prep in 1953 where he participated in many varsity sports. In 1957 he earned a BS degree from Fairfield University where he was an officer in the Business Club and also earned his MBA form Sacred Heart University. He was the owner of the Bostonian Wonder Bar Caterers in Bridgeport until his retirement ten years ago. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at St. Vincent's MC for their outstanding care and compassion, especially nurses Shelly. Lucy and Brianna. During this time the family also wishes to express sincere thanks to the many friends who spent hours at the hospital, especially Rudy Mastrioanni, who took Lou back and forth to radiation treatments and Arch Manzione who was always there with coffee and a donut. The family also wishes to thank Father Dan, Monsignor Pekar and Monsignor Callahan for their visits. Funeral services will take place on Thursday March 6th at 10:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 11 a.m. in St. Agnes Church Milford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
