Lionel S. Sylvia age 84, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2015 in his home in Springhill Florida in the presence of his long time companion, Maureen Zowadney and his eldest daughter, Diane Bevis. He was the beloved son of the late James and Elsie Sylvia. Lionel was born in Bridgeport CT. on July 12, 1931 and was a long time resident of Derby CT. He worked for Russell Chevrolet as an exceptional auto mechanic for many years and later was employed by Siikorsky Aircraft as a foreman. He was a friend to all and always had a good sense of humor. He was known to have endless energy and stamina and always strived for perfection. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Joan Sylvia. He was a loving father to three daughters, Diane Bevis, Linda Matola and Carol Berger. He also leaves behind his cherished 7 grandchildren, Jerry, Leslie, Ryan, Daniella, David Forrest and Jacob and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Edmund Sylvia, (Mini), and leaves behind his sisters Natalie Ziembroski, Lillian Gaito, Elsie Dubac, and Natalie Aspinwall, all his brother-in-laws and several nieces and nephews. Leo (as many people called him) will be buried on Monday December 14, 2015 at St. Johns Cemetery in Monroe CT, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Lionel's memory to a charity of choice.
