Obituary

Liboria Russo Balas, 93 of Huntington beloved wife of the late George Balas passed away peacefully Tuesday September 28, 2010 at Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center in Stratford.Born on February 18, 1917 in Fairfield to the late Joseph and Mary Geraci Russo, Libby had been a resident of Bridgeport for all of her life prior to moving to Huntington 10 years ago. Survivors include her loving daughters Joan Bucci and her husband John of Huntington and Doris Alexander of Bradenton, Florida. Six grandchildren Karen Bucci, Anthony Bucci and his wife Catherine, Scott Bucci and his wife Denise, Christopher Bucci and his wife Lori, Edmund Lorenson, Thomas Lorenson and his wife Angelica. Seven great grandchildren Amanda, Matthew, Victoria, Jennifer, John, Alexandra Bucci, and Nikolai Lorenson. Libby is also survived by her sister Martha Colangelo and her brother Robert Russo and his wife Betty, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Augustine Gentile and her brothers Joseph Russo and Vincent Russo.Libby attended and graduated from the American School of the Deaf. She retired 10 years ago from Decorator Services where she was a seamstress for many years. Libby loved spending time with her family and friends. Libby also enjoyed reading the daily newspapers and watching the Yankees among other sports on TV. Libby was an avid bowler and a member of several bowling leagues where she enjoyed traveling and participating in many tournaments. She was also a member of the Bridgeport Athletic Association for the Deaf. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday October 2, 2010 at 10:00am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Calling hours on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Libby was a resident for the past two years of Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center and the family wishes to extend their thanks to the 4th floor staff for their dedication and compassion.
