Leona Fusco, age 72, of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 in her home. Leona, a retired teacher for the City of Bridgeport was born in Bridgeport to the late Louis and Czeslawa (Jessie) Nerkowski Fusco, and has been a life long area resident. She was a graduate of Stratford High School, and earned a BS from Danbury State Teachers College (WCSU), and earned her Masters Degree and Sixth Year Teaching Certificate from the University of Bridgeport. Leona taught in the Bridgeport school system for forty years, mostly at Blackham School, she enjoyed playing bridge, and belonged to several bridge clubs in her retirement. Survivors include her devoted brothers, Louis Fusco and his wife Ellen of WI, and Michael Fusco and his wife Deborah of MA, 3 cherished nieces, Erin Seigfried and her husband Karl, Jillian and Ashley Fusco, a great niece Freya, several cousins and friends. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 4th at 11 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church 298 Second Hill Lane Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford.
