Leo Francis Onze (89) of Shelton passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. He was born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania on March 27, 1935, to the late George and Anna (Luchansky) Onze.   Leo was a lifelong area resident and a retiree from Sikorsky Aircraft where he was Quality Control with Manufacturing Engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean war. Leo was a 3rd Degree Knight with St James Council 2370, he belonged to the VFW 9460 Raymond T. Goldbach Post, the Holy Name Men's Society, the Baldwin Center Seniors, the Shelton Senior Center, the Stage One Theater, and was active in the Duckpin Leagues in Stratford. Leo loved dancing, music, and traveling with his beloved wife Janet, especially on bus trips with the Dresser Retirees Club. He was always quick with a friendly smile, and imparted witty wisdom and loving kindness to all.

Survivors include his devoted children, Catherine Zasciurinskas and her husband Thomas of Northford, Thomas Onze of Milford, granddaughter, Susan Francis and her husband Kevin of Wallingford, great-grandson, Matthew Francis, and several nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Janet (Super) Onze, his parents, daughter-in-law Dawn (DiGiacomo) Onze, grandson Mark Onze, and siblings, George, Bernard, Rev. Robert, Thomas, Joseph, and Margaret.

The family is sincerely thankful and grateful to the entire staff of Apple Rehab Shelton Lakes, in Shelton, Connecticut, for the loving and compassionate care provided to both Janet and Leo Onze over the past couple of years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 14th, at 9:30 am in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Ave Stratford. Interment with full military honors will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull. Friends may greet the family prior to Mass from 8:30-9:30 am in Holy Name Church.
