Penny -
Lee Herbert Penny, age 81, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2008 in Bridgeport Hospital.
Born on April 2, 1927 to the late Herbert Lee Penny (who also passed away on September 6 in 1984) and Josephine Hanock Penny. He was a graduate of Bassick High School class of 1945 and proudly served in the U.S. Army in WWII in Berlin, Germany with the 78th Division.
He was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft as a manufacturing engineer with 33 years of service retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the CT Balsa Bugs for model airplanes and the Housatonic Model Yacht Club where he served as secretary and enjoyed the building of model airplanes and boats.
He is a life member of the NRA and the VFW Post 9460 in Stratford, the Sikorsky ¼ Century Club and Our Lady of Grace Senior Social and Travel Club. He and his wife enjoyed many trips together to Bermuda, California, Hawaii, Florida, Arizona, Chicago, Niagara Falls and Las Vegas, just to name a few.
Lee was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who appreciated life and his family more than words can say. He enjoyed doing yard work and handy work around his home and appreciated the little things in life. He was always happy with what life gave him and never asked for anything more. Lee was very proud of his family, which include his beloved wife of 41 years Elaine Angus Penny, his devoted children Lorraine Tesla of Stratford and Thomas Penny of Pepperell, MA, his 2 cherished grandchildren Sarah and Amanda Tesla, a brother Peter Penny of Stratford, a sister Irene Jensen of Newburgh, NY and three nieces, Susan Penny, Amy Thompson and Wendy Hull.
A brother Richard Penny predeceased him.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 10 at 9:15 am in the
Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford
and at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, 407 Second Hill Lane, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Lee's memory can be made to the Stratford Visiting Nurse Association, 88 Ryder's Lane, Stratford, CT 06614 or to Our Lady of Grace Memorial Fund.
