Lawrence Vanderveer Studdiford Sr. (Larry), age 81, of Stratford, beloved husband of Carol Plant Studdiford, for 58 years, passed away peacefully at home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Three Bridges, NJ on November 9, 1930 to the late DeWitt and Ruth Studdiford. He attended schools in New Jersey, and graduated form Sommerville High School in 1949; he then served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War, from 1951-1953. Larry worked for Raritan Valley Farms in NJ until 1969, then he and his family moved to Enfield, CT. in 1970, where he worked for Sealtest Dairy for three years, and then Borden's Creamery in Stratford until their closure in 1980. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in 1995 where he was a precision assembler, working on the Black Hawk and C53E helicopters. After he retirement, he started woodworking and made many items, especially light houses and birdhouses. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughters Cheryl Alusik and her husband John, of Stratford, Donna Leroux and her husband Don of Uncasville, and son Lawrence Studdiford Jr. and his wife Donna of VA, 5 grandchildren Devan and John Alusik, Nicholas Leroux, and Lauren and Shea Studdiford, a niece Sharon Hendricks of FL. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his daughter Tami, and sister Elizabeth Sawicz. Friends may greet his family on Tuesday, July 10th from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Entombment with military honors will be private.
