Lawrence S. Basso, age 81, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Joan Rende Basso, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in Gaylord Specialty Health Center, Wallingford. Lawrence, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, was born in Bridgeport on January 20, 1936 to the late Michael and Anne (Mayernick) Basso and has been a life long area resident. He was a member of the West Haven Italian Club, and enjoyed traveling to Florida, and day trips to the Casino. Lawrence was an avid fan of U-Conn Women's Basketball, and following the Stock Market on Bloomberg TV, he also enjoyed playing Rummy Cube, however, the most important thing to him, was spending time with his beloved family. Survivors include his devoted children, Greg Basso and his wife Deborah of Shelton, and Lisa Mack and her husband Jerry of Stratford, his cherished grandchildren, Sara and Stephen Bene, 2 brothers, Michael Basso of Bridgeport and Stephen Basso and his wife Diane of RI, sisters-in-law, Delores Scinto, Helen Mingolello, Sally Giannetta and her husband Anthony, and Diane Saracino, and a brother-in-law, Pat Rende and his wife Kathy, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife and parent's Lawrence was pre-deceased by his sister, Delores Cortello. The Basso family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent's Medical Center and Gaylord Specialty HCC for their kind and loving care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 2 ^nd; meeting directly at Our Lady of Grace Church 497 Second Hill Lane Stratford, with military honors immediately following. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
