Laurine A. DeRose Basso, age 90, of Stratford, the widow of Salvatore R. Basso, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Basso, the former proprietor of Camelot Square Stores, was born in Waterville, Maine to the late Bernardino and Berthina (Gilbert) De Rose, and has been a long time area resident. She was a docent for the Stratford Historical Society, a member of Christ Episcopal Church, and an avid traveler. Most of all Laurine will be remembered as a great homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed taking her grandchildren on day trips. Survivors include her devoted daughters Janet Tolomeo and her husband Robert of Stratford, Laurie Katz and her husband Richard of Cheshire, 7 cherished grandchildren, Lisa Florentino and her husband Dean, Jennifer Tolomeo and her companion Charles Bazso, David and Jeffrey Katz, Scott Dingwall and his wife Amy, Cheri Cronin and her husband Gary, and Sean Dingwall and his wife Michele, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was pre-deceased by her daughter Charlene Dingwall and brother James DeRose. Funeral services and interment are private and have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
