Katherine Macura, age 89, of Stratford, the beloved widow of John Macura, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 in St. Joseph's Manor, Trumbull. Katherine was born in Torysky, Czechoslovakia to the late Joseph and Anna (Zentkovich) Bradac and immigrated to the United States at a very young age. She lived in Bridgeport for over 50 years and Stratford since 1999. She was a devoted member of the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Mill Hill Avenue, Bridgeport where she was a member of the Mothers & Daughters Club, St. John's Seniors, the Women's Orthodox Council and the Carpatho Rusyn Society. Katie was also an active member of the baking and cooking groups of St. John's Church in Bridgeport and Silver Lane, Stratford. She was known for her specialty cookies and cakes. She was especially proud to bake Artos Bread for the churches for Easter. Survivors include her beloved son Very Reverend Edward Michael Macura, 3 cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Macura, Michael Macura and Timothy Macura and his wife Katie, several nieces and nephews and a special caregiver Elaine Trerotola. Katie was predeceased by sisters Anna Bakos, Mary Kopnicky, Martha Bobko, Helen Elias, and brothers Steve Bradac, John Bradac and Michael Bradac. Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 5. 2015 at 9:15am in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10 am in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, 364 Mill Hill Ave, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet her family on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. A Panachida Service will be at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Katherine's memory to St. John's Church Memorial Fund, 600 Silver Lane, Stratford 06614.
