Josephine Eleanor Schlagenhauf formerly of Stratford passed away on May 30, 2015. She resided at Middlebrook Farms in Trumbull, CT. for her last years. She and her beloved husband were married for fifty-two years when he passed away in October of 2005. Jo was a member of the First Congregational Church of Stratford since 1955 when she transferred her membership from the United Congregational Church in Bridgeport. She served on many boards over the years, the last being the Board of Trustees. She was the director of the Town of Stratford's Employment and Training Department for 17 ½ years and was employed in the department for 21 ½ years altogether. Jo retired in 1996. She received many awards amongst them the National Alliance of Business Award for Excellence for meritorious service in support of training and employment activities in New England. She is survived by three children, Diane Mellen and her husband Neil of Monroe, CT. , John of Coventry, Ct. and Mark and his wife Mei of Denver, Co. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Jaime of Bristol, CT., Tara of Columbia, CT., Kurt of Providence, RI. and Zoe of Coventry, CT. Her charming great grandchildren Jake and Mason reside with their parents in Bristol, CT. The most important things in Jo's life were her beloved husband Walt and her family. There will be no calling hours. There will be a private memorial service for family in her home. The Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
