Joseph A. Tomas, age 84, of Stratford the beloved husband of Mary Lou Hinson Tomas passed away on January 9, 2025. Joe was born in Bridgeport on October 15, 1940, to the late Andrew and Annie (Tomasko) Tomas and had been a long-time area resident,
He was a 1958 graduate of Bullard Havens Technical High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Joe served as 4th Degree Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus St. Frances X. Cabrini council 4096, Joe was a retired self-employed plumber. Joe enjoyed spending precious time with his granddaughter Elizabeth. Joe also enjoyed time in Scranton, Pennsylvania as a member of the Green Ridge Sportsmen's Club. He was an avid fan of the Amazing METS.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 62 years include his devoted children, Robert Tomas and his wife Linda of Trumbull and Tracey Kosa and her husband Thomas of West Haven, his cherished granddaughter, Elizabeth Kosa, a brother, Andrew Tomas and his wife Mary Ellen, a sister, Dorothy Tomas, sisters-in-law, Lynn Tomas, Joan Tomas and Dorothy Fridenstine and her husband Mark, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was pre-deceased by his brothers, Richard and William, a nephew, Kenneth and niece Misty.
The family wishes to thank the SICU nursing staff of Bridgeport Hospital for the care, compassion and support to Joe and his family.
Visitation will take place on Monday January 13th, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, with a prayer at 11:30 a.m. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe, CT.
