Joseph Scott Monroe (60) went home to be with the lord on October 3, 2025, after a brief illness. He was a Loving Husband, Devoted Father, Outstanding Grandfather, Amazing son, Beloved Brother, Kind Uncle, and Loyal Friend. He was predeceased by his father, Brian James Monroe.
Joe was born in Waterbury, CT on December 3,1964. He grew up in Monroe CT and was a talented carpenter, and spent most of his career as a union carpenter. He enjoyed fixing things and always tried to make things better. Joe and Lisa spent their loving years together enjoying themselves with family and friends. Their love of the water is how they spent most of their time together. Either watching the sun rise and set at the water's edge, or hunting the coastline for driftwood, sea glass, or shark teeth, Joe also loved fishing and boating.
Joe's presence will be deeply missed by all who truly knew him, but his spirit will live on in our hearts and memories. He leaves behind a legacy of devoted love and kindness. He married his middle school sweetheart, and they were together for most of their lives. He leaves behind his wife, Lisa- Romano- Monroe, his four children, Courtney South, Alyssa Monroe, Kasandra Monroe, Matthew Monroe and his sons-in-law, Sean South and Andrew Marti, his mother, Madline McGlone Alaimo, brother, Brian Monroe, sisters, Kim Lacasse and Deborah Mckinsey, his six grandchildren, Gunner South (8), Andrew Marti Jr (5), Ellie South (4), Madelyn Marti (4), Makenna Marti (2), Joseph Marti (2months). He also leaves behind mother and father-in-law, Lynn and Ronald Lee, sisters-in-law, Kimberly Romano, Danielle Goncalves, and Samantha Lee, aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews that he loved and enjoyed every moment that they could be together. Family was truly his reason for living.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 3-6 PM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford with a prayer at 5:45 PM. All other services will be private
